This position reports to
R&D Team Lead
Your role and responsibilities
Contributing to the development of new products and solutions in the field of medium voltage pole parts
Interdisciplinary collaboration with other ABB units as well as external partners in the framework of R&D projects
Preparation of development tests and type tests in close collaboration with certified test labs
Close cooperation with local industrialization and production during implementation of new products and optimizations
Conducting simulations for a variety of intricate problems related to pole parts and their use in medium voltage breakers and switchgear
Consulting for internal and external customers on problems related to the application and manufacturing of pole parts
Qualifications for the role
- First experience in an R&D environment preferable
- Higher degree in engineering, preferably with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
- Basic knowledge in electrical distribution network and its components and an interest to expand it
- Basic knowledge in manufacturing processes and plastic materials preferable
- Basic knowledge in the area of current interruption phenomena in medium voltage product range preferable
- Experience in CAD and simulation tools (e.g. SolidWorks)
- Fluent in English and willingness to learn German
- A solutionfocused approach with handson mentality and interest in practical laboratory work
