We are seeking a Director of Engineering to support our entry into the Power-2X market. In this role, you will lead the Engineering team in Vienna, our competence center for green hydrogen technology, plant engineering, and project execution.

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in electrolysis processes and extensive knowledge in various engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate should be passionate about managing a cross-disciplinary and multinational engineering team. Your extensive experience, coordination skills, and people management abilities will be crucial for the success of our projects.

Join our Power-2X enterprise, where our vision is clear: to become a leading global Power-2X solution provider for green hydrogen and renewable fuels production. What sets us apart is our passionate team of engineers, a rich history of global EPC projects, and leadership in technology and manufacturing. Be part of a world-class, dynamic team, contributing to the growth of the green hydrogen and Power-2X economy, with opportunities for future higher management responsibilities. Our multicultural and multinational team thrives on flat hierarchies and an open dialogue culture.

If you're enthusiastic about contributing to profitable growth within this rapidly expanding division, we can't wait to connect with you.

In your role, you will:

  • Coordinate all engineering resources, functions, and tasks for standalone green hydrogen projects and those adjacent to renewable fuels and CO2 capture projects.
  • Lead project engineering management, process engineering, layout and piping engineering, Electrical-Instrumentation-Automation-Engineering, and installation and civil engineering.
  • Manage engineering processes over the total project lifetime.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team of engineers in Vienna.
  • Schedule engineering tasks/resources and align them with the overall project plan.
  • Clarify, discuss, and present technical solutions to customers.
  • Serve as the escalation point for customer and supplier technical design topics.
  • Align required or requested modifications with internal product design experts.
  • Support engineering tasks according to your background.
  • Provide problem-solving and escalation support within the Engineering Teams.
  • Develop common rules of cooperation, tools, and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Report to both the leader of the green hydrogen business and the director of global engineering for our P2X solutions.

Your qualifications:

  • A degree in chemical, process, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience in electrolysis processes and engineering of electrolysis plants is a must.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in leading positions within the engineering sector.
  • At least five years of experience leading cross-functional teams and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to consult with customers and notified bodies about technical design requirements.
  • Capable of explaining design solutions in an engaging manner.
  • Experience performing acceptance tests and supervising installation and commissioning during start-up.
  • A proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams through effective coaching, mentorship, and talent development initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage conflicts and resolve interpersonal issues within the team, promoting a harmonious and collaborative work environment.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Solution/team/customer-oriented with the confidence to act proactively.
  • Fluent in English; another European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel for at least five days per month.

We also value:

  • A customer-focused and open personality with a commitment to performance.
  • A high-performance mindset with the capability to operate effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate, cooperate, and interact comfortably across cultures.
  • Future-oriented thinking and interest in continuous development.
  • Ability to work well within a team and foster collaboration.
  • A proactive, energetic approach to tasks, coupled with a positive mindset.
